“Problems are not the problem; coping is the problem.”
— Virginia Satir
My path to Marriage and Family Therapy began with a deep curiosity about human behavior, culture, and relationships. After earning a master’s degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Higher Education and working in academic settings, I chose to pursue a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy so I could bring
systems thinking directly into clinical work. I view people within the context of their relationships, histories, and larger social
systems. My approach is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed family systems work. I support individuals, couples, and families navigating rupture and repair, blended family dynamics, life transitions, grief, attachment wounds, and persistent relational
patterns that feel difficult to shift. I believe healing happens in safe, attuned relationships where compassion and accountability can coexist. My therapeutic style is collaborative, grounded, and direct,
with an emphasis on emotional awareness, communication skills, and building secure connection. I come from a large family with four siblings and nine nieces and nephews, and I have experienced firsthand how complex and resilient family systems can be. I have
maintained a respectful friendship with my former spouse and his family, which continues to inform my belief that relationships can evolve with intention and care. I also spent several years living in Alaska, which deepened my appreciation for adaptability
and community. Outside of my work, I spend time on a flower farm, with my nieces and nephews, or exploring the Coastal Range and Cascades with my dog, Bernard. These parts of my life keep me grounded and remind me that growth unfolds in seasons.
As your therapist, you can expect a steady presence, deep respect for your lived experience, and a commitment to helping you create meaningful, sustainable change inyour relationships and within yourself.
